MY
Story
A start as a club DJ
My start as a DJ began as a teenager - I was a competitive B-Boy and loved the club and festival energy. I grew up in a house full of music and my dad owned a record store; he encouraged my love of music with a mixer and two turntables, and let me "borrow" vinyl from him. Soon after, I was DJing in clubs in San Diego, SF, Seattle, Reno & South Lake Tahoe honing my live-mixing skills and my ability to read a crowd and keep the dance floor full!
I went to college at UNR, and for a while pursued other careers, including ski instructor and high school history teacher. All the while, I was continuing to DJ events and weddings.
Professional DJ & MC
In 2015 I went full time, and haven't looked back. Fifteen years behind the decks across hundreds of weddings and events taught me one thing above everything else: reading the room is everything. The technical skills matter, but knowing when to shift the energy, when to hold back, when to let a moment breathe is what separates a good night from one your guests are still talking about years later.

I love to get to know my clients and their music tastes and build a custom mix at every event. My aim is to give them the best party ever, and my passion is helping my clients feel like their event or wedding was a personal festival, whether they love EDM, hip hop, latin or country music.
Every event I perform is mixed live, built around your music, and handled personally from first conversation to final song. I don't subcontract or send a substitute. When you book me, you get me.
When I'm not DJing, I'm skiing, hiking and sailing Tahoe, and spending time with my family. This place is home, and I can't wait to celebrate with you.

As your DJ, I bring a relaxed, elegant style to your event, supporting your corporate party, private event or wedding including ceremony, cocktail hour, reception and even after-parties!
For an elevated and personalized experience, DJ Sawyer Tahoe does not contract additional DJs for your event, ensuring your vision. I don't subcontract or send a substitute. When you book me, you get me.
